Common Payment Card System

Common Payment Card System

Features and Components

The proposed system focuses on facilitating payment transactions for citizen services across the city. These services primarily include payments pertaining to buses & other transit modes, parking, municipal services (property taxes and other charges), utilities (electricity and water) and also includes recreational & retail payments. The system has been proposed to be implemented through an open loop smart card and mobile application based payment system. In addition, other payment systems like Aadhar Enabled Payment System (AEPS), Unified Payment Interface (UPI), Physical Point of Sale (POS), etc. will also be provisioned as part of this project. Under CPCS project, a minimum of 325 POS machines will be installed across the city to facilitate payment services for citizens at prime distance. These service delivery points with POS devices shall be available to citizens at approximately 250-300mts of walkable distance to avail all kinds of services including payment of municipal services, utility bills etc. The cards under this system being Open Loop Based, will also be acceptable at all Euro, Master, Visa and Rupay specification terminals. The broader objective of the system is to overlay a digital payment eco-system for the city, to enable citizens in accessing a unified system for all government and non-government services.

Benefits to the citizens

This system shall provide an ecosystem in the city for digital payment of government fees and taxes, utility bills, transit charges, parking and other services charges apart from intervention at recreation, retail and grocery merchants.
